The museum is located in the castle in Gniew, the most powerful fortress of the Teutonic Order on the left bank of the Vistula. The Teutonic castle on a quadrangle plan, built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, was the home of the Teutonic commandants, and in Polish times the seat of starostes, when the office belonged to the Radziwiłłów, Zamojski and Lubomirski families. Over the centuries, the castle was rebuilt many times, especially visible in the nineteenth century, when it was transformed into a granary, significantly changing the original interior layout and "losing" the Gothic elements of architecture. The Castle presents permanent exhibitions "The Battle of Grunwald" and "From the history of artistic blacksmithing." In addition, numerous knightly tournaments and VIVAT VASA are organized in the season! Polish-Swedish war - a historical event recreating 17th-century military.
