The biggest tourist attraction of Swobnica. The ruins of the castle of the Knights of St. John from the 13th century that remain to this day are located behind the village on Lake Grodziskim. The castle was built in the second half of the fourteenth century and served as the seat of the commandery. It consisted of a rectangular residential house and a huge tower built into the defensive walls. In the mid-seventeenth century, after the Thirty Years' War, the castle was taken over by the Swedish queen. In 1680, he was bought by the wife of the Brandenburg elector Dorota. At her request, the castle undergoes a thorough reconstruction and turns into a three-wing baroque residence. The work was conducted first under the supervision of Ryckwaert, and after 1682 Michael Smids and Johann Nering. It is from this period that the completely preserved, unique in Western Pomerania, magnificent Baroque interior design comes from, which consists of stucco ceilings, fireplaces, floors, staircases and wall paintings on the second floor. At the end of the 19th century, minor alterations were made to the castle (the tympanum in the main axis of the palace was liquidated), but otherwise the building has survived unchanged to this day. From 1872, Swobnica became the residence of the royal house. Abandoned at the beginning of the 20th century, after 1945 it became the property of the State Farms, which established its offices here and then the granary. In 1992 the castle was bought by Mr. van Leendert, who promised to create a hotel, golf course etc. These promises were never realized. In the meantime, the owner started the activity of buying and processing venison in Poland. The castle has repeatedly passed into the possession of the van Leendert daughter companies, which thus avoided paying fines imposed by the West Pomeranian conservator of monuments and responsibility for the condition of the buildings. Repeated attempts were made to communicate with the owner of the object and save it from destruction, but unfortunately all these attempts were blocked by van Leendert and his employees. In February 2008, after the strong winter storms, the oldest wing of the castle collapsed. The southern wing is in critical condition. The roof over the main wing is leaking and the beautiful Baroque ceilings and wall paintings are destroyed at an alarming rate. In August 2009, the Swobnica Castle Association was established on the initiative of local history lovers, whose goal is to save this one of the most valuable historic buildings of West Pomerania from complete destruction. In July 2009, the Gryfino District Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation against the current owner due to the collapse of the castle wing.
