The reserve was established in 1985 in the Mieszkowice Forest District. Since 1986, he is named after Wiesław Czyżewski, who in the years 1955 - 1985 served as a forest district in the moors. A year after his death, a stone dedicated to his memory was placed at the top of the stairs leading to the viewpoint. The reserve's area is protected by dry heaths, thermophilic grasslands and xerothermic grasslands covering an area of just over 72 ha. It is part of the Natura 2000 conservation areas bearing the broader name "Odra Valley". There is also a whole range of protected plants here. The reserve's resources are carefully protected. It carries out works to prevent overgrowth by particularly expansive species of vegetation (aspen, black locust, bird cherry, buckthorn, birch). Sheep grazing from May to the end of July.
